ABOUT USSHAVA was first started in 1969 with the opening of St. Albert's first hospital. A group of 9 ladies from St. Albert and the surrrounding area wanted to make a difference by supporting the hospital with various fundraising activities. hand-crafted items were sold in a very small gift shop in the new hospital along with basic supplies and snacks. Now so many years later, the group has raised over $3.7 million for the hospital. SHAVA has over 200 members and are always ready to welcome more. Members also take part in various activites throughout the hospital to support the staff on the units.

SHAVA ANNUAL Donation to Sturgeon Hospitalat the AGM held in June 2024, SHAVA president, Jocelyne Durocher, announced the donation of $155,000.00, in recognition of the associations's 55th anniversary .

What We doWE HELP OUT IN VARIOUS AREAS, BOTH IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE HOSPITAL, INCLUDING THE INFOrmation DESK, CHAPEL SERVICES, KNITTING/crocheting, bottle/can RECYCLING, emergency, and volunteer services. We also operate the gift shop At Sturgeon Community Hospital and a used bookstore at St. Albert Centre Mall.
